There is a new ASL beyond the bus, here on St Johns Street in town centre. The issue however, is the cycle lane leading to it on the left.
There is simply not enough space for it, whether the bus is in the middle of the lane or not. Cyclists shouldn't be encouraged to squeeze by here, especially not up against a large vehicle such as this one.
Traffic is either going straight ahead (which is actually a left kink) or right. If a cyclist is alongside when the lights change to green, and the driver is going ahead (and doesn't see them), they will be in a most uncomfortable situation.
